Winter in the Ranges is when heaters give up, almost always on the coldest week of the year. Most faults we see fall into a handful of categories, and plenty of them are a same-visit fix. If any of this sounds like your system, give us a call.
Air is coming out of the vents but it is cold or barely warm. Usually an ignition, gas valve or burner fault, and it is one of the most common calls we get.
Nothing happens when you turn it on, or it tries and shuts straight back down. Often a lockout, a failed igniter or a control board fault.
Front of the house is warm, back of the house is freezing. Usually a duct problem, a collapsed or disconnected run, or a zone motor that has failed.
Most systems tell you what is wrong before they stop. We have written up the common Brivis, Rinnai, Braemar and Bonaire codes so you can look yours up before you call.
The heater runs for a few minutes then cuts out, over and over. Often a blocked filter, a return air restriction or a failing overheat sensor.
Stop using it and call us straight away. Anything that smells like gas, or scorching and soot around the unit, needs a licensed technician to look at it before it runs again.
Blank screen, frozen display, or the buttons do nothing. Sometimes a power or wiring fault, sometimes the controller itself has failed.
New noises usually mean worn fan bearings, a loose duct connection or something that has come adrift. Worth looking at before it turns into a breakdown.
