Split systems in the Ranges

A split system is the simplest way to heat and cool a single room, and for many homes in Sunbury, Gisborne, Woodend and Kyneton it is the right answer for a living area, a main bedroom, a home office or an extension that the ducted system never reached. Done well it is quiet, efficient and unobtrusive. Done badly it is noisy, draughty, and mounted where it was easiest to install rather than where it works.

We install, replace, service and repair split systems across the Macedon Ranges with our own technicians.

What we do

Installation and replacement. Sized for the room, positioned for comfort and appearance, with the outdoor unit placed for airflow, noise and access. Pipework, electrical and drainage done to specification and covered by our 9 year labour and workmanship warranty. Split system installation.

Service. Filters, coils, drain, refrigerant charge, electrical connections and operation checked, so the unit runs efficiently and does not develop the smell or the drip that neglected splits do. Split system service.

Repairs. Not cooling, not heating, leaking water, error codes, noises, tripping the power. All major brands. Split system repairs.

Brands

For new systems we install Mitsubishi Electric, with which we have substantial hands-on installation experience, and ActronAir and Rinnai, for which we are factory-trained dealers who purchase directly from the manufacturers. We service and repair all major brands, including Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, LG and Samsung.

More than one room?

If you are looking at two or more split systems, read about multi-head systems first. One outdoor unit serving several indoor units is often tidier, quieter and better looking than a row of outdoor units along the side of the house, and for whole-home comfort ducted reverse cycle may be the better answer again. We install all three, so the advice follows the house.

Replacing an old unit under the VEU program

Replacing an old reverse cycle air conditioner or an electric heater with an efficient split system can attract a discount under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program. We check eligibility for you and quote approved equipment.

In the room

The right unit, in the right place, installed to look like someone thought about it

A wall-mounted split heats and cools one room from an indoor unit high on the wall and an outdoor unit outside. Position matters as much as capacity: airflow across the room rather than at the bed or the sofa, pipework hidden or neatly capped, and an outdoor unit on a proper bracket or base with clearance to be serviced.

The indoor unit

Quiet, slim, and sized for the room

Capacity is chosen for the room's size, orientation and insulation, not the biggest unit that fits the wall. An oversized split short-cycles and never dehumidifies properly; a correctly sized one runs steadily and quietly. This is ActronAir's Serene Series 2; we install Rinnai, Mitsubishi Electric and ActronAir splits depending on the room and the budget.

Controls

A remote in the room, and an app for everything else

Every split comes with its own remote. Wi-Fi control from your phone is available on most current models, so the bedroom can be cool before you get home or the office warm before you sit down. On ActronAir splits that is the Easy Connect app; other brands have their own.

Factory-trained dealers

Trained by the manufacturers, buying direct

We are factory-trained dealers for ActronAir, Brivis and Rinnai and purchase equipment directly from these manufacturers.

We also install, service and repair all major heating and cooling brands, including Mitsubishi Electric.

Questions we get asked

What size split system do I need?

It depends on the room's floor area, ceiling height, insulation, window size and orientation, and whether it is a living area that gets full afternoon sun or a bedroom on the south side. We size on the room, and we will tell you if the size you have in mind is wrong in either direction.

Do you install split systems in bedrooms?

Yes, and we position them so the airflow does not blow across the bed and the outdoor unit is not under the window. Quiet operation and placement matter more in a bedroom than anywhere else.

Can a split system heat a Macedon Ranges home in winter?

A correctly sized split system heats a room efficiently in Ranges winters. For several rooms a multi-head system or ducted reverse cycle is usually the better answer than a collection of individual splits.

Do you service brands you do not install?

Yes. We service and repair all major split system brands regardless of who installed them.
