Real footage from evaporative services completed by our own team on local roofs. Foam, clean, rinse, test.

  1. Foam Foam

    1 Foam

The foaming solution goes into the tank and pad frame, where the build-up sits.

  2. Clean Clean

    2 Clean

The inside of the cooler is cleaned by hand, corners and tank included.

  3. Rinse Rinse

    3 Rinse

Everything is rinsed through and the dirty water is flushed out of the unit.

  4. Test Test

    4 Test

The finished cooler is run with water flowing over the pads and checked before we leave.

More than an inspection

A proper evaporative service, not just a quick check

A lot of "services" are a look, a hose over the pads and a tick on a form. Ours is a physical clean of the cooler followed by the checks that decide whether it will actually cool your house in January.

A deep foaming clean, not a hose-down

Most services stop at spraying the pads. We apply a foaming cleaning solution to the pads and the relevant internal areas of the cooler, work it through, and rinse it out. That is what lifts the dirt and debris that a quick rinse leaves behind.

The water system is checked, not glanced at

Pump, float valve, drain valve, solenoid, water lines and bleed rate. These are the parts that fail in January, and they are checked and adjusted while the unit is open.

Airflow and operation are tested

Fan modes and speeds, accessible ducting, airflow at the outlets and water distribution across every pad, finished with a full function test so the cooler leaves our hands running the way it should.

Filtrex treatment included

A Filtrex cleaning treatment is applied as part of the service process once the pads and tank are clean.

Plain answers

Why an evaporative cooler needs a proper service

Dirt and debris build up over a year

A cooler sits on the roof through autumn and winter collecting dust, leaves and grit in the pads, the tank and the frame. That build-up blocks airflow and stops the pads wetting evenly, which is why a cooler that ran well last summer can feel weak this year.

Pads have a working life

Cooling pads wear, clog with minerals and go hard. We check their condition properly and tell you honestly whether they will do another summer or whether a new set is the better money.

The water system is where most faults start

Pumps that stop lifting water, float valves that stick, drain valves that leak and bleed rates that were never set. Each one shows up as a cooler that runs but does not cool, or a roof that stays wet.

Airflow is the whole point

Fan speeds, ducting condition and outlet airflow decide how much cool air reaches the rooms. We test it rather than assume it.

Smells at start-up

A musty smell on the first hot day is usually stale water and a build-up on the pads after months of sitting. A proper clean of the tank and pads deals with the cause rather than masking it.

Ready before the heat, not during it

The first hot week is when every cooler in the district gets switched on and the breakdown calls start. A spring service picks up the obvious problems while there is still time to fix them without a wait.

Local knowledge

Evaporative cooling in the Macedon Ranges

Dry heat is where a cooler shines

Most of a Ranges summer is hot and dry, which is exactly the weather evaporative cooling is built for. It also means the pads, pump and water system do a lot of hours, so a proper clean every year is what keeps a cooler cooling.

Every major brand, every town

Brivis, Braemar, Bonaire, Coolair and Breezair coolers come through our books every week of the season, from Sunbury and Gisborne up through Macedon, Woodend and Kyneton and out to Romsey and Lancefield.

Two storey homes are no problem

Roof access on a double storey house takes the right ladders and safety equipment, which our technicians bring as standard, and it does not change the price of a standard service. Tell us what you have when you book.

Book before the first hot week

The first hot week of the season is when every cooler in the district is switched on at once and the breakdown calls start. A spring service is the single best way to avoid being in that queue.

Why people book us

The safer choice for your cooler

Our own technicians, every time

A fully in-house team. Nobody is subcontracted, so the person on your roof is one of ours and answers to us.

Evaporative is core work, not a sideline

Brivis, Braemar, Bonaire, Coolair and Breezair coolers come through our books every week of the season, so the faults and the fixes are familiar.

Based in Sunbury, servicing the Ranges

Our depot is in Sunbury, so Gisborne, Macedon, Woodend, Kyneton, Romsey, Lancefield and the towns between are all a short run for our technicians.

No surprises on the day

The service price is confirmed when the booking is confirmed. Anything extra, such as a pad set or a pump, is quoted before it is done, never added to the bill.

Factory-trained dealers

Trained by the manufacturers, buying direct

We are factory-trained dealers for ActronAir, Brivis and Rinnai and purchase equipment directly from these manufacturers.

Evaporative cooling service: your questions

What does an evaporative cooling service include?

We clean the unit and the water tank, inspect and clean the cooling pads or replace them if they are past it, check the pump, float valve and drain or dump valve, check water distribution across the pads, test the fan and motor, check the electrical connections and controller, run the unit through a full cycle and report anything that will need attention. Pad replacement, if needed, is quoted before we do it.

How often should I service my evaporative cooler?

Annually. A pre-summer service in spring is ideal. If your water is hard or the unit sits under trees, more frequent pad cleaning can be worthwhile.

Why does my cooler smell when it starts up?

Usually stale water or a build-up on the pads after the unit has sat over winter. A service cleans the tank and pads and checks that the drain valve is emptying the unit between uses. If the smell persists after a service, the pads are generally due for replacement.

Do you service coolers in double storey homes?

Yes. Roof access is part of the job for any storey; we bring the right ladders and safety equipment, and it does not change the price of a standard service.

Can you service my gas ducted heater on the same visit?

Yes, and it is a sensible pairing. Many customers book the evaporative cooler and the gas ducted heater together so both are ready for their season.
