New evaporative cooling for Ranges homes
For a lot of Macedon Ranges homes, evaporative cooling is the right choice for summer: whole-home cooling, fresh air rather than recirculated air, low running costs, and a system that suits the dry heat we get on a north wind. We design and install new evaporative systems from Sunbury and Gisborne through Macedon, Woodend and Kyneton to Romsey and Lancefield, and every installation is done by our own team.
Designed for the house, not lifted from a brochure
The difference between an evaporative system that keeps a house comfortable at 38 degrees and one that only takes the edge off is almost always design. The unit has to be big enough to move the air the home needs. The ductwork has to be large enough and short enough to deliver it. The outlets have to be in the rooms you use and positioned so air can flow through to open windows. A second storey needs its own thinking.
Our site visit covers all of that before we quote. We measure the home, look in the roof space, talk about which rooms matter most and how you use the house, and then select the unit and design the layout. The written quote lists exactly what is included, so you can compare it fairly with any other quote you get.
What we install
Brivis is our preferred evaporative brand: we are factory-trained dealers for Brivis and purchase equipment directly from the manufacturer, which is why we can back the installation with confidence. We install other evaporative brands where they suit the home. Brivis makes a range of capacities and cabinet sizes, so there is a unit for a two bedroom cottage in Kyneton and a unit for a large double storey home in Gisborne; the site visit decides which.
How the installation day runs
- Roof penetration cut, dropper fitted, and the unit mounted and flashed so the roof stays weatherproof.
- Insulated ductwork run through the roof space, supported properly, with outlets cut and fitted where we agreed.
- Water supply and drain connected, electrical circuit installed, wall controller fitted.
- Unit commissioned, airflow checked and balanced at every outlet, controls explained.
- Site left clean, packaging removed.
The warranty, scoped honestly
Our 9 year labour and workmanship warranty covers the installation work we do: the ductwork, the connections, the roof work and the commissioning. The cooler itself is covered by the manufacturer’s product warranty, which we handle on your behalf if a claim is ever needed. If something we installed is not right, we come back until it is.
Evaporative or reverse cycle?
If you want cooling that also works on humid days, or heating and cooling from one system, ducted reverse cycle is the alternative, and for homes without roof space a multi-head split system can cover several rooms from one outdoor unit. We install all three and will tell you plainly which suits your home before you spend anything.

- The 9 year labour and workmanship warranty in writing, alongside the manufacturer's product warranty

A new installation starts with the house: floor area, ceiling heights, roof type and where the dropper can run. From that we choose the capacity and the cabinet, then place outlets so the air reaches every room and leaves through open windows on the far side of the house.
Ducting design
Designed for the floor plan, then commissioned
Insulated ducting from the dropper to an outlet in each living area and bedroom, sized for the airflow, sealed and supported in the roof space. When it is installed we run the cooler with water flowing, check the airflow at every outlet and show you how to use the controller before we leave.

Sized for your home, not a rule of thumb
We size heating and cooling from the home: floor area, ceiling heights, insulation, glazing, orientation and how the rooms are used. An oversized unit short-cycles and an undersized one runs flat out on the coldest and hottest days, which is exactly when you need it.
New, correctly insulated ductwork on every ducted reverse cycle installation
Ducted systems live or die by the ducts. A new ducted reverse cycle installation gets new ductwork, sized for the system's airflow, insulated to the current standard, sealed at every joint and supported so it does not sag or kink in the roof. We do not reuse old gas-heating ductwork for a new ducted reverse cycle system. When a gas ducted heater is replaced like for like, the existing ducts can stay where we have inspected them and they are suitable.
Return air and outlets placed for even comfort
Outlet positions, return-air size and location decide whether the back bedrooms are as comfortable as the living room. We design outlet placement and return air for the floor plan and confirm it with you before installation day.
Water and drain done properly on evaporative coolers
A watertight roof penetration, a properly connected water supply with an accessible isolation point, a drain that actually drains, and pads and distribution set up so the unit cools evenly from day one.

Brivis manufacturer warranty on the equipment
Eligible Brivis ducted gas heaters and evaporative coolers carry a five-year parts and labour warranty from Brivis, extendable to nine years in total under Brivis Service Advantage. It applies when we install a new Brivis evaporative cooler, and the conditions are Brivis's:
- Register the product with Brivis within twelve months of purchase
- Keep up the scheduled Brivis services at the intervals Brivis sets
- Some models are excluded, such as the Compact Classic CC3; the terms for your model are confirmed on the quote

Questions we get asked
Does a double storey home need a different evaporative system?
Usually yes. Unit capacity, duct runs and outlet positions all change with two levels, and getting cool air to the upper floor without starving the ground floor is a design question. That is why our quote form asks whether your home is single or double storey.
How is an evaporative cooler sized?
On the volume of air the home needs moved on a hot afternoon, which depends on floor area, ceiling heights, storeys, insulation and how open the plan is. We size on the house, not on a rule of thumb from the brochure.
Where do the outlets go?
Where the air needs to be delivered and where it can flow through the house to open windows or doors. Evaporative cooling needs an exit path for air, so outlet positions and the rooms you use most both matter. We agree the positions with you at the site visit.
How long does an installation take?
Most new single storey installations are completed in a day. Double storey homes and larger duct runs can take longer, and we tell you before the day.
Can I have evaporative cooling and gas ducted heating through the same ducts?
No. Evaporative ductwork is much larger than heating ductwork and the two systems use separate outlets. Homes that want one set of ducts for heating and cooling are usually better suited to ducted reverse cycle.
